FAQs

Common questions

How do I know if my child needs a speech-language evaluation?

An evaluation can be helpful when you have concerns about how your child understands language, expresses ideas, produces speech sounds, communicates socially, or is understood by others.

Can learning two languages cause a language delay?

Bilingualism itself does not cause a language disorder. A bilingual child’s communication should be considered across the languages they hear and use.

Do you provide therapy for bilingual children?

Yes. Therapy can be adapted for children who use more than one language in daily life, with attention to language exposure, family priorities, and communication needs.

Do you work with parents as part of therapy?

Yes. Parent involvement is often an important part of treatment, particularly for younger children, so strategies can carry into everyday routines.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes. Online assessment, consultation, parent coaching, and therapy are available when teletherapy is appropriate for the child and goals.

What happens at the first appointment?

The first appointment typically includes a parent discussion, observation or assessment activities, and a plan for recommendations or next steps.
